Yellowmix I like this

Yellowmix is a 29 year old guy from Northeastern, New Jersey, USA.
Searching for a better world. If I can help create it, in any capacity, then my life has meant something, and I will be satisfied. In my not-so-serious and idealistic phases, I like koalas. Because they're cute and if I hugged one, they'd feel threatened and pee on my face for self-defense. Kangaroos, on the other hand, would kick me. Very hard.
HOLLER! An Interactive Video Installation

What is like for a woman to walk from one place to another? Holler! is an interactive video installation that simulates the experience of being harassed with cat calls. What one may perceive as complimentary is one step away from physical violence, and a threat is something very real.

The 80s were a magical time, in which computers were no longer considered a pure utility by the mainstream. Unix hackers long had Hunted the Wumpus, and Hacked the Net (or were a Rogue), but the average person could not participate. Eventually, machines made purely for entertainment became commonplace, at a quarter for a few minutes of joy. A quarter century later, advances in technology bring this, the old come new again.

The Model Minority myth is used to position Asian American "success" against other persons of color's "failure" to pull themselves up by the bootstraps. Behind the curtain of the American Dream is racism, unseen by the majority, and we will not be used to hide it. Criticizing the institutionalized policies does not mean we have "low expectations". It means we wish to fix what is wrong.

Pamphlet (Acrobat PDF) concerning intersex and trans terminology, as well as a discussion of common, outdated, and often offensive terms. Would have thumbed it up, but it's just mean to add PDFs to SU.

There is a natural tendency to categorize people, and when consensus forms, society will do so as well. Physical appearance is an easy criteria to use, but consider how much of what is visible tells you about someone's biological sex, and how much of it is self-selected as choice. Restrooms, utilitarian in their bodily waste consumption, is inherently biological, and present a literal gateway to gender self-identification. However, how much influence does society have on enforcing you to choose a particular doorway?

Art may be about expression, and Trever Brown's work may be most about yours. "Shocking" but in jest, as some sort of counterbalance to Anne Geddes, but equally lacking in depth. Controversial as much as the commercial pop art he does for books, magazines, and music albums, which is sort of the point. Think past what you see, but don't think too hard.

Anne Geddes disgusts me for using children in order to tug at heartstrings. This, however, does not. It bothers me. Like clowns. Perhaps the adults with exaggerated silliness and happiness indicates the opposite, hidden; furtive sinister agendas underneath paint and a wig. What is it about these children? Hidden innocence underneath aloofness? No, it is because subconsciously, we know there are furtive sinister agendas underneath it all.

90s cyberpunk took 80s cyberpunk and twisted its dystopian lens and focused it on the convergence of information and media. Imagine your morning commute in this future city, where gigantic walls of video inundate you with political propaganda, advertising, and shiny things. This is that shiny thing, with vector illustration-style animation reminiscent of a simpler time, circa 2005.

Appropriation from a multinational corporation. Disgusting.
